I just installed a TCI 3500rpm stall converter this weekend. What a difference! The lauch is neck snapping when the tires hold a little. It retains the lock-up function so it is very streetable. I recommend this coverter to anyone who has an LS1 with an automatic. It puts the car right in the torque curve. I bought mine from Texas Speed and Performance for $520.

Congrats to your tci-converter :)

What's the gear ratio in your car 2.73 or 3.23?
How long did it take to install the converter?

It would be great you let us know about your track times soon :D

It took about 6 hours to install. I could have done it quicker but the tranny was stuck to the engine. The alignment dowels were rusted to the block. I also broke the shifter cable because it got caught on the tranny when we were lowering it. I also installed a cooler. As for track times the car ran a 13.56@102 bone stock at Bitburg in June. It has 3.23 gears. Since Bitburg I have done the following mods:

1. Comp Cam 224/228 dur .581/.588 lift with a 114 LCA.
2. 160 Thermostat
3. Descreened MAF
4. Cold Air Mod
5. Pacesetter LT Headers (Not Installed)
6. Pacersetter off road y-pipe (Not Installed)
7. SLP Quadtip "Loud Mouth" Exhaust (Not Installed)
8. Custom Computer Tune from TSP (Not Installed)
9. TSP Air Lid (Not Installed)
10. Converter of course.

I will be at the next Bitburg at the end of this month and I will update the times.

Great mods man I would say you should be on the mid to high 12's having the installations finished. :D

I will try to arrange to be at bitburg too. Which day are you intending to be there 7/31 or 8/01?

Both days. I am hearing there is a car show in Munich on the same weekend and alot of the F-body guys are going. I will probably still go Bitburg because I am dying to get another time slip.

LS1,
Have you ever ran yours in the 1/4? If so, what is your best time?

NXZ28,
I still haven't. For this reason it would be a good experience for me I think. However I'm not expecting too much as it will be my first run :D

Well, don't get your hopes down. Your car with the mods should go 13.30 or faster. You just have to baby it out of the hole. I can show how to shift it because when I ran mine there was only one way to shift it and the car responded well. Any other way and it would hit the rev limiter or not even shift. I will see you there.

Mine is Don. I hope that some of the other Fbody guys come out there also because we party pretty good at Bitburg after the races.

LS1,
I saw your dyno numbers today. With that power you should go into the 12's with traction being you limiting factor. I'm sure we can hook you up with some drag radials for a few passes. I finally got to test my car with drag radials and the sway bar disconnected. I could only bring the stall up to 1500 rpm and the lauch was brutal. Moved everthing that was in the open consol to the back seat quick. I installed my SLP exhaust but I have not put the headers or computer on yet. Without the computer the car is going to be considerably slower. The torque management for the tranny is killing me. It pulls the timing back 15 degrees in second gear. Feels like the car falls on its face. Are you still going to Bitburg this weekend?

Still owe you some work. I am glad it solved the problem. There are some deep black marks on the test road now. I think my shirt that I wore that day smells like burnt brakes. I wonder why?
