Hey guys,

as some of you already know, I want to make my baby drive over 300kmh. What all do I need to make it?

My next anticipated mod was

suspension: coil overs, adj. shocks, adj. panhard rod, sway bars, sfcs, tunnel brace, brakes, control arms, ... anything I forgot? *g*

and then

cam
heads
intake
headers
offroad y-pipe

but I have to consider my goal (top speed) when I chose them.

somewhere between these I will need to do smth with my tranny, another converter / stall speed, torque arm...

greetz

Vadim

CandyMan:

As you like high speed driving... tell me when the wind noise becomes considerable *loud* in your car? In mine it's from about 200-210 km/h.

Panhard rod: Is your rear not centered? If not, you don't need it.
Control arms: Why?
Tunnel brace: debatable... but some say it helps

Shocks & sway bars & SFCs: They help definitely!

You already have a tranny cooler, haven't you?

Hm ... I think you got a good 4digit list under suspension already ...

You don't expect your car to get through TÜV anymore, right? I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that I won't run into trouble next time I'm due ... (in March)

hmm, I kinda don't hear anything even when I drive over 280kmh, maybe it's bcoz of the loud music? *g*

I don't know if it's centered or not, right now I'm 2" lower, but since I put the new Enkei Wins with 275 tires that almost come out of the fenders, I can see better and it seems to be pretty much in the center...
control arms... umm more torque? and then tunnel brace... well I'm happy when I don't need to make all these mods coz everything ist too damn costy :)

Skip the transmission brace if by that you mean the tubular piece that replaces the flat piece across the back of the gearbox. Total waste of time and money as it bolts onto two thin sheet metal lugs. It is highly questionable as it is too low and drags on every speed hump and even once took out the skull of a piece of roadkill. It is totally superfluous and a cynical piece of marketing. If it hit anything substantial, it would just rip the lugs off and damage the floor. I may take mine off, it's so superfluous.

I have done the free ram air mod and the SLP cold air (flowpac) mod.
I cannot feel or hear any difference. But its a GOOD feeling to know that the LS1 can now breath freely the cold air like a jet fighter. Aaaahhh :D

I am afraid, without Supercharger and Nitrous you will never reach 300km/h.
Hoochehooba had the same in mind and we came quickly to the conclusion that you can easily spend 15-20000USD.

Today I had a par with a BMW on the A44, both running at 250km/h in the dark. God, I like the suspension setup, now that the wheels are balanced and these nasty vibrations are gone.

I found this posting on LS1GTO quite informative:

Quote:
That's the general neighborhood of the fuel cut off, said to be 155 MPH. Someone actually posted a digital readout of 162 MPH on one of the Forums for an M6. IMHO pushing the stock LS1 up there for any length of time is pretty scary to me. I have no idea where the actual go BOOM limit is. I would not want to try myself without serious oiling mods, especially in the absence of a pressure gauge. Not to be an old woman here (no offense to any of the ladies) or intent to rain on your parade, but it's a pressure oiling system with a gravity drain back return. I have never seen one of these stock type systems unworked that couldn't pump it all into the valve covers faster than it drained back, windaging the drain back into foam, and allowing the pickup to suck air at some point, resulting in grenading the engine pretty quick. I just don't trust it that much. In the back of my mind I remember too that all the parts were provided by the lowest bidder as well. Can it be fixed? Oh yeah! One of the smartest and most competent engine builders I ever knew said the limit is wherever your wallet runs dry... :D JMHO Big Guy...be careful.

In reference to the LS1 engine in my GTO.
