I debating on whether or not to change the gears to 4:11s or stay with the 3:89s. The Hot Rod doesn't see the kind of miles that it used to so gas milage is not an issue. Looking for opinions tell me what you think. Is it too steep for auto-X and road racing? I know it falls inline with the drag racing and it might see more of that this year (since King of The Hill incorperates the 1/4mi).

Val
Thos gears would probably be way too steep for hockenheim.
As for autox, Its the torque generation , but the real answer would be to drive it first.

I agree with Roy. Even though I have never done the auto X. 4.11's are a good gear if you are going to run 28" tall slicks at the track. I think your 3.89's are an all around great gear.

The more research I do the more I'm shying away from them and just stay with the ratio I have. Most R/Rs are running 3:42s - 3:23s so it's probably not wise to go to 4:11s.
Thanks
Val

Your topend will suffer if you still want to blast down the bahn. Might not be by much but you RPM's will be higher resulting in increased temps in all areas w/ or w/out a cooler. Just something else to think about.
I'm basically running for 4.10's w/ my 3.73's now because of the tranny ratio mimic's the Z06. Yeah I'm in the pwr range all the time but my flat out topend is down. I get there a lot quicker though.

Val I just put 4:30 in mine. as soon as the wheather clears I will give you a ride. I needed the gear for the cam I am running. Things just happen quicker shifting, hitting the rev limiter, refueling.

It is just winter maintanance. I change all fluids. It is harder to drive a car with gears it wants to get away from me at 100MPH. Top of 3rd will fill your pants on cold roads the 3:89 was easier to control but it feels alot stronger now.
