I'm wondering if anybody has rust problems with the camaro. I don't have yet, beside some minor parts under the car.
But it would good to know in advance, if I should do some rust prevention
What are your experiences?
Kai

174.000ks, 10 years registered in germany, probably 10 german winters -
TÜV still loves it. No problems so far, pretty nice that they paint everything, even the underfloor...

But that's what concerns me the most! The underfloor is just painted, I can't see any other protection besides that, compared to german cars!

My 98 is doing pretty good I recon, only the differntial housing looks a bit fishy ... I guess I'll see if I need to do something when I take it down for TÜV next month ...

That's just minor surface rust Garry. Nothing to be worried about, but some Por15 or Hammerite will take care of that!

That's what I mean ... go over it ... guess I just need to watch out it's nothing that would attack the seals ...

Definately ...
- The mounts that hold the front fenders near the mirrors rusted from day 1
- the rear end that crumbles (very common problem)
- door lock stops (ones that are nearly impossible to remove due to insane torquing from factory)
- rust under the radiator cover
- some light spots where the water travels down underneath the hatch, got some water traps here and there.
Granted that i live 3km from the North Sea so the air is as salt as could be. Car has been outisde since sept 1995 and finally sleeps indoors as of October 2004.
After the engine is in i'll attend to the sick (see points above).
