Some of you guys might remember that clutch position sensor issue I mentioned sometime ago,

well, it is gone now.

However, I must admit I am nitpicking, something else has come around.

Whenever my Trans Am, 99 LS-1- 6 speed manual gearbox, is parked for a couple hours or more,

when I first get in and push the clutch, I hear a metallic clicking sound, that I have not noticed before.

When I begin to apply pressure, I feel a slight tension in the driveline, and when the clutch begins to move I hear a metallic click or pop. Even when the car is not running, and it is not in gear.

Then there is no tension at all other than the clutch lever wanting to return back to it's original position.

A few months ago I had the clutch checked and two of the cylinders inside was replaced because of failure resulting in clutch slippage at high RPM.

Other than this clicking or popping sound, it is running beutifully. Everything is running beutifully. I have been running the LS-1 as much as over 12 hours at a time seeing speeds in excess of 125 MPH, and the LS-1 resonates perfectly...

As it was thoroughly checked, and thoroughly tested and thoroughly re-checked by a reputable GM dealer a few months ago, and they told me that everything is in working order.

The clutch travel feel is faultless, no binding or catching anywhere.

I really have no idea on what it is.

You have a thumb tack stuck on the bottom of you left shoe that is making noise against the pedal when you push in the clutch. J/K. But seriously, my wife told me one time that the clutch was slipping in her BMW really bad. I drove it myself and it was slipping and the pedal was sticking to the floor. Come to find out it was just her floormat caught behind it. I would check out the pedal assembly since you said it is driving fine.

Well I did some "non sanctioned street activities" last night and while skull dragging some silly guy in what he thought was a fast SUV I accidentally feathered my clutch going the a couple gears at 5000 RPM causing it to slip and heat.

That was an operator malfunction on my part, and I hated that, because I had the complete clutch replaced almost a year ago.

today I took it out for a "spirited" drive while doing some errands, and
once everything warmed up, I was smiling.

That metallic click or pop sound did not happen at all today.

Under full throttle at high RPM my clutch was fine.

if anything felt funny-

back end would kick out a little then hook up

or my LOW TRAC low traction indicator would come on- my wheels were spinning faster than the speed I was going, due to breaking traction with the road-

which, we all know, is normal with these types of cars.

Well there is not a problem now.

The seasonal temperatures have cooled a bit, maybe that might be a factor...It is not even an issue anymore

After reading everything, it sounds to me like it could be that little spring that is on the clutch pedal. Mine used to do this exact same thing, so I lubed that little spring and life's been good since. :)
