Just got off the phone with LG Motorsports

My calipers have seen better days and are starting to spread, so why not upgrade instead of just replace.


also adding in some nice brake ducts and SS Lines.

yep, That's the only way I've got a chance against those Dutch guys, Val , Roy and you. Going to pick up a set of used C4 GS wheels and either Kumho V710s or Hooser A3SO5s, probably the 710s.

after that, shocks and swaybars, then some simple exterior/interior dress up/ upgrade things. If I've got enough left over, a new radiator w/ built in oil cooler and a trans/diff cooler

also going to cut this street/track best of both worlds crap out and do a full track alignment and see how much camber I can get out of this thing with some Hardbar camber plates (http://hardbar.net/page_corvettesuspension.htm). so much for the inside of my tires .

after that, a 4th set of wheels with either Toyo RA-1s or Nitto NT55R2s just for the ring.

The only downside is that these calipers will bump me to SM2 if I autoX with the SCCA when I get back to the states. Guess I'm going to have to figure out where to shave some weight off this pig.

on top of that, I've got to figure out what all is wrong with my BMW and get the thing running good again before it starts snowing. Hopefully it's just the water pump and a few bad coolant lines

Well I started my Wilwood conversion yesterday...and managed to yank the caliper bolts out of their threads in the bracket. I'm a little pissed...ok ALOT pissed.

Going to try a work around today. Give me a call when you get ready to do your swap and I'll try to guide you around the pitfalls.

Well just got done with my Front Wilwood install. Lots of learning points. The immediate take home point is for you to see if your vendor will pre-build your rotors for you.

Knowing that you are AF and located on an AF base...it might not be that hard to find an plane mechanic that can safety wire your rotors for you, but I didn't know how to do it...and luckily there was a guy here who happened to be there at the Auto Craft shop that did.

the main advantage of the kit i'm getting is that I will still use my $25 stock rotors.

BTW, what pad are you going to use with yours? I've been using the Wilwood E-compounds on my stock calipers and really like them, so that's what I ordered with the kit

I wish I could go with the Wilwood package. My Fiske rims will not allow them to fit though. The only option I have is the LG ZO6 brackets. Now if I had 18's it would be a different story.

for right now I'm going with the wilwood pad that came with the kit. I'm more concerned now about figuring out what I need to do in the rear. If I need to go as agressive and get a wilwood rear kit or if I can squeak by with 05 rotors and upgraded pads on the stock calipers. I'm going to hit nordschleife on sunday with ben I think.

What kind of rotors are you running that cost only $25? ...and I thought my Brembo OEM rotors at $60 a piece were relatively cheap.

NAPA replacement rotors. What's even better is that shipping is only $14 to an APO no matter how much you order, so I buy several sets at a time, they're here within a week and I've got spares on hand. They are just as durable as those expensive Porsche rotors I tried out last year, just not as pretty. but I can get 5 set's for the price of 2 front rotors.

Cool, how long do these rotors last on your car; I mean in what intervals do you replace them?

... and will they fit a stock '98 F-Body setup? I'm afraid that running a weekend of AutoX in Bitburg next week the new used rotors from Jack will probably be warped beyond usage again ...

I got just short of 20 laps on the ring with my current set up without cooling ducts or anything. They could probably got a few more, but the front's have a lot of small spider cracks in them, so they won't see any more track time. With normal street driving, they should last a few years.

If you want to adapt it to an F-body, it shouldn't be too hard. You're current calipers would probably work, you would just need a new set of caliper brackets. I Think several The back might be a little more difficult depending on how your e-brake is set up.

i guess I should follow up on this. LG sent me the wrong calipers, so they are on the way back. I was suposed to get the wider racing caliper instead of the regular street caliper, so it'll be at least a few more weeks before I can get these on the car

the good news is that I found an e-bay store that sells C4 ZR-1 wheels with the Grand Sport offset for on $345+shipping, so next year I'll be rolling on 17x9.5/17x11 wheels with 275/315 Kumho V710s.
