Miles? Cause apparently the 2.0T in my wife's car is only good for 12k miles. I figure if you upgrade to the better B7's you get more mileage out of them. :(

12 K miles??? Who told you that CR*P? or did you manage to blow it up?
Most engines are laid out for a minimum of 100 K km (60 K miles) worth of thrashing before they will need work (as in emissions, not like new bearings or broken conrods).

The Audi Dealership right across from the Kaserne here on B38 in Mannheim. I didn't blow it up...Hell I never get to drive the car. The wife is DEATH about this being HER car. (She does make the payments after all) The only time I even remotely drove it hard was a one lap around the Auto-X. And even then I didn't even thrash on it.

#2 cylinder has zero compression. I'll know more by Wed on direct cause (piston / valve etc). Don't happen to have a spare V8 (or even V10) laying around you could donate to the cause?

Sounds like a manufacturer's defect ... piston rings or something ... shouldn't go bad that early ... get it fixed under waranty :)

I know where's a spare R8 Le Mans race motor, but the fences are high and the security wears jackboots............

So far the S4 has run faultless (10 K km) except for noticable tire wear in the front. Getting a RS4 in June, then there will be VERY noticable tire wear all round.

Let me know what was the problem with the wife's car and I can check if similar problems have happened before.

I'll let you know what the exact cause was. We broke the car in right and were changing the oil at the right intervals. We even had the services done early. The wife drives it so you know it's not driven hard but dang...this is frustrating.

I guess stateside you get a loaner with your warranty service...wonder with our US Warranty if we still get that option. Would be nice...time to call up USAA also to see if they reimburse under this situation.

If I were a betting man...I'd stay stuck or bent valve as the power levels seemed normal...it just idled really rough and threw a code. I hope it's an easy fix and can be repaired by tomorrow when the dealership promised.

Bulshit your way past the guards at the gate, see if you can crack the keycard entry and plan your escape route when the silent alarm goes off.
Good luck.

Will we have time to install the engine into our getaway car?

There's airlines on the wall and airtools in the cupboards. Might have to practice a bit to do it in the dark though.
