Been a while since I posted, just moved and had a kid. Living in Kemnath (near Bayrueth) now.

So here's the problem I'm getting noise from the left rear brake only on my 2000 Z28. II put Hawk ceremic pads & Powerslot rotors on in Nov 2003. There is now a groove a few thousandths deep on the outside 3mm of the left rear rotor.

Obviously it's time for new brakes. I'm looking for advice on the problem and possible solutions so it doesn't repeat itself.

Two possibilities I'm considering are; road construction I've been driving on every day at work maybe something got in there or... I was trying to keep pace with a Ferrari heading towards Nurnberg we came out of a turn to heavy traffic and trucks ... it was a quick 250kmph to 80 kmph stop.

Sounds like something got bedded in between the rotor and bad even though it sounds unlikely. But just the fact that one rotor is showing wear is cause for alarm in itself even though it may not be too serious.

Pull the caliper off and look at the pads to see if there is any debri on there. Rear brakes generally in Fbodies are relatively good and one doesn't work harder than the other they modulate equally. So something is amiss here.

yeah the edge of the pad is damaged a little. looks like something metal was stuck there for a while.

looks like I'm at least replacing rears, but may do a whole set. Not going to run on track any time soon. Just occasional trips on the Autobahn and driving to work.

sooo... any suggestions on brakes?

What pads are you running now? HP+ are a decent pad. As far as a whole brake setup? Unless you got 5K laying around the Movit's are sweet or the more economically priced Stop Techs which I want to get sometime in the near future. Don't know if the Stop Tech's build rears though.

You can check around on various websites for rear rotors...mainly Thunderracing as I believe they carry rotors, pads etc.

I still have HP ceramic pads with the powerslot rotors all around.

Got it all from Tirerack before. Doing more comparison shopping online this weekend. :?: Trying to find best for what I use the car right now. Then find the best price/shipping.

So far the weather sucks so I don't feel bad about leaving the car in the garage.

I see some Wilwood sets that aren't too expensive. But don't see information for fit with factory wheels. I don't need a reason to spend money no wheels right now. :( I just bought new tires. 8 tires, 4 wheels plus brakes would blow the car budget and tick off the wife....

Aside from putting on Powerslot II's with HP+ pads, is there a set-up that will work with factory 16 in 5 star 10 spoke wheels :?:

Brembo blanks(slotted) from tire rack are $220 for the set of rears plus pads (Hawk HP+ = $95). Got them on my T/A work awesome.
