my god this inspection sounds like a huge headache. I surely hope they don't give me "He said POOP".

How far is Wiesbaden away from Spang?

Is Wiesbaden an easy place to get inspected? That is where I am heading.

Im in Wiesbaden, if you got window tint you may as well start peeling. But I think its easier than what everyone else seems to be dealing with. I dont have to go back till August so I cant say for sure.

I'm 50/50 right now on bringing the Blue Beast and removing the cage or selling it before I arrive.

It would be nice to have a 490rwhp N/A car for the autobahn. Think that if I re-gap my rings for N/A that I could push 500rwhp N/A and also remove the cage.

Going to need lots of steel wool for the exhaust though.

The cage shouldn't be an issue ... !?

I don't know why it would either. I would wait and make any changes (besides tint) until you get inspected. Then make the fix and do it again. You get 30 days.

What I mean to say is that if I bring it I am taking out the cage. Only reason to have it is for tech inspection at the tracks in the US of A. Taking it out will save some weight, beyond that is serves no purpose in a crash on the autobahn as the impact of my head against the cage would kill me since I don't drive on the 'bahn with a helmet.

;)

Really the only issue I might have is with the exhaust, and I plan on testing that out when I get home for R&R with a DB meter and some steel wool.

Otherwise I'm going to add a vacuum pump and/or get my rings re-gapped for N/A since going 140mph for long stretches on the autobahn with a motor gapped for N2O will result in burning some oil.

But yeah, you guys are right, I shouldn't have a problem other than the exhaust noise. I'm going to check the 11cm under body clearance as well.

Someone needs to hurry up and make a connection at one of the inspection places so we can all pass. lol

You could do some padding on the cage...

You might wanna keep the cage for Bitburg.

I know I see a lot of Polo's running around with cages.....

The Autobahn would be best with changing the N20 to a blower or Turbos anyway, but I do know a place that sells some.

FI is definitely best for the 'bahn. I considered going that route but that would have cost me too much $$ to put in new dished pistons and to buy a blower on top of it.

The Goat is great as it stands. The vacuum pump will prevent some oil consumption and hopefully get me to 500rwhp N/A.

11cm is just over 4" so I don't think I have any problems with that.

Last time I was around the GTO was not very quiet but I never had any issues with the Polizei. This time around it is louder but I think I can fix that a little by putting on some cats...hell it isn't as loud as Bruce's car was.

I'm looking forward to heading back and enjoying Bitburg and the 'Ring some more.

Well good luck with everything. I'm closing in on a year since I've had my car here and haven't had plates for it yet. Of course I really haven't been trying to get them until now. As soon as my damn clutch comes in that I've been waiting over a month for I should pass.

Really the only thing that should prevent me passing would be the noise level and that is an easy fix on any vehicle if you are creative enough.

Unless I'm missing something, but in that publication it says the max DB for exhaust is 90, and I know the inspection point I work next to says 95. So, some things have changed or being followed incorrectly.

I also see that it says the DB test cannot not be done with in 50m (150 feet) of a structure. "This test must be conducted at a distance greater than 50 meters from surrounding structures." I see the guys in mannheim aren't even 20 feet away from the building, in a corner no less.

Food for thought.

How far away from the vehicle do they have to be for the DB test?

they are supposed to be .5 meter away at a 45 deg angle. But they rarely listen to that
