hi
I have a question, my 2001 Camaro needs some new tires, the size on my original alloy wheels (16x8") is 245/50/R16
In the Netherlands this is a size which is not common, the only availlable is Kumho

I will keep my orginal wheels (they are in very nice condition), but i can't buy any tires.
Is this size more common in Germany ?,

The tires in America don't have an E-mark, so i don't know if i am getting in trouble when i buy American Goodyears or Michelins tires with no E-mark,
How are the regulations in Germany ?

Another strange thing, in the Netherlands (and Germany too) are almost brand new Camaro's and Mustangs on sale, and the tires on these cars are also American tires, they don't have an E-mark too.

You may want to change your tire size to 275 40 17 there is a few mor sizes to choose from.
But if you stay with the original size, the Kumho KU 31 is a good all arounf tire tire.

Are you allowed in Germany, to drive with tires which don't have an E-mark ?

This is from Wikipedia
Quote:
E-mark

All tires sold for road use in Europe after July 1997 must carry an E-mark. The mark itself is either an upper case "E" or lower case "e" – followed by a number in a circle or rectangle, followed by a further number. An (upper case) "E" indicates that the tire is certified to comply with the dimensional, performance and marking requirements of ECE regulation 30. A (lower case) "e" indicates that the tire is certified to comply with the dimensional, performance and marking requirements of Directive 92/23/EEC. The number in the circle or rectangle denotes the country code of the government that granted the type approval. The last number outside the circle or rectangle is the number of the type approval certificate issued for that particular tire size and type.

My case is a little different as I fall under a status of forces agreement (SOFA). My US DOT tires are sufficient.

...but I have never seen that anyone (e.g. police) looks for this E-mark, if the tires are normal street tires...
