Well the camshaft is in and the springs are changed. I m currently waitng on new harmonic balancer, 2 pushrods and 2valve cover gaskets.
I buttoned it up as much as possible to do a test fire on it , and fire up on the first crank and idled just fine. Even though it made every one stop what they was doing to come over and look at the beast.

It is a pretty straight forward application on the Ls1 I would rate it a meedium task for a firstimer that has downloaded all the "He said POOP" from the internet on camswaps on the Ls1.

There is a great install guide at torquecentral.com
I have one on the way for my new (wife's old) car!!!

Paceparts sells them LS1 Hot Cam Kit for 418.xx shipped. May be a little more to an APO, but it includes everything you need including gaskets.

Another good package for a smoother idle is the LS6 cam.

The install is supposed to be pretty easy.

Good luck,

Jamey

Sweet Roy, wish I could hear it...

I will be putting mine in next weekend...by myself in my garage :) From what I've heard, you need a set of headers and to raise the rev limiter to really wake this cam up.

The wife now has a 2001 Chevy Blazer Xtreme. She is driving 55 miles each way to work, so wanted something with a smoother ride...plus I wouldn't let her put all the miles on the TA ;)

Later,

Jamey

Well it is running now. It took about an hour to purge all the air out of my radiator . But that is good now. I ve put ahundred miles on it so far . I need to squeak the idle a hair to bring it up and to smoothit out a bit. As for power well I lost all my low end torque, but from the midrange it seems to hit pretty good. I see my mileage went to hell though. Got in a little scrap with a SLK 500 and intimidated
a m roadster. Time to go to the kill section.

Did you drill out the hole in the TB to smooth the idle out? They say it helps alot.
