If it starts ticking then you probably need to check the pushrods. It sounds like you didn't cause any damage though if it is still running fine.

I did that in the same area a bout three years ago . I didn't think there was any damage either because it ran fine afterwards. That is until about one kilometer from Wiesbaden it picked up a dead cylinder .
Out come was one really bent pushrod and three minor bent ones.

Gunnar had broken his engine with that. But i think, your engine is still ok.

The were a few times when I was accelerating very strongly on dry pavement-
I smoked the tires going through second,
however I just went 500 to 800 RPM over redline,
as the tires smoked and heated up on full load...
...cold tires....
Motor is fine, stronger than ever...

I had the same thing happening this past weekend, i missed gear and went to 1st gear instead of 3rd !
Luckily the PCM recognised the MASSIVE over revving and turned on the VTEC mode so i was able to let it rev even higher and make more power in the proces
