I think i got really lucky and got away with no damage, but I wanted to make sure. Just after the last turn on the N-ring, I was in 4th going for 5th gear and accidently hit 3rd instead. As soon as I felt the car jerk, I got back on the clutch quick. There are no strange sounds, no white smoke, nothing ovbiously wrong. Is there anything else I should check or look for.

If it starts ticking then you probably need to check the pushrods. It sounds like you didn't cause any damage though if it is still running fine.

I did that in the same area a bout three years ago . I didn't think there was any damage either because it ran fine afterwards. That is until about one kilometer from Wiesbaden it picked up a dead cylinder .
Out come was one really bent pushrod and three minor bent ones.

The were a few times when I was accelerating very strongly on dry pavement-

I smoked the tires going through second,

however I just went 500 to 800 RPM over redline,

as the tires smoked and heated up on full load...

...cold tires....

Motor is fine, stronger than ever...

I had the same thing happening this past weekend, i missed gear and went to 1st gear instead of 3rd !
Luckily the PCM recognised the MASSIVE over revving and turned on the VTEC mode so i was able to let it rev even higher and make more power in the proces :D
